Do you event stretch? You better!

Ever wonder why your lower back is tight or you legs hurt every time you run? You probably need to stretch more or do better stretches! You aren’t 7 anymore. Without stretching injuries are more likely to occur and take you off of your training course. Let’s not let that happen.

Here are 3 quick tips to help you stay loose and keep you training:

  • Never stretch with cold muscles. Start with a quick walk or jog for 1-2 minutes before you do anything. It’ll help to elevate your heart rate, get the blood flowing, and get you ready to start stretching. Old school static stretching might do more harm than good!
  • Stretch before you work out. Old school static stretching is for the birds. Do a quality dynamic stretch to loosen the muscles. I have outlined some quick movements you can do in 3 min to have you ready for your workout:

  • Stretch after you workout. I suggest doing the same dynamic stretch you performed before the workout :)

Stretching is so so incredibly important. Take care of your body – you only have one! Take the extra 5 minutes to stretch before and after. Ask anyone who has pulled a muscle or been sidelined due to an injury, stretching is just as important as the workout.

Until next time,

Be Great!
